Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is a form of mechanical peeling in which the top layer of the skin is gently removed using extremely fine microcrystals. The treatment stimulates micro-circulation in the skin, refining it and making it particularly receptive to active ingredients that are subsequently applied. Microdermabrasion aids in the creation of finer pores, reduces fine lines, and stimulates the skin’s own collagen and elastin production. Afterwards, individually tailored active ingredients are able to reach deep into the skin in order to allow them to achieve their maximum effect.

Microdermabrasion Information

Microdermabrasion is useful in treating scaly, pale skin, impurities, acne scars, enlarged pores, and wrinkles. Scars can be smoothed down, and the texture of an entire area of skin can be made even. Microdermabrasion is ideal for combining with other cosmetic treatments and products tailored to your own skin.

On the day of treatment, the skin is thoroughly cleaned, and oil is removed so that the peeling can take full effect. Following this, the aesthetician performs the microdermabrasion using a special handpiece that circles over the areas of skin to be treated. Small crystals (aluminium oxide, salt, sand) are blasted onto the skin at high speed. These crystals pulverize the upper layer of skin cells, which are then extracted along with the crystals by a vacuum pump. The process is then repeated.

Avoid the solarium and heavy exposure to sunlight for 1 week after treatment. If your skin has a strong inclination towards pigmentation, apply sunscreen with a protection factor of at least 50, ideally on a daily basis.

Normal reactions of the skin to microdermabrasion are redness, slight irritation or a light burning feeling. A feeling of warmth or tension in the skin can occur up to 2 days afterwards.
