Mesotherapy

What is a mesotherapy?

Mesotherapy is a minimally invasive treatment, proven through decades of research, which is used in aesthetic medicine for skin rejuvenation, regeneration and for the treatment of hair loss. It is a particularly gentle method, largely free of side effects, in which fine needles penetrate the skin to a maximum depth of 0.5 millimetres. This micro-injection technique transports valuable ingredients into the skin layer below the skin surface, where they can effectively unfold their impact.

The composition of the active ingredients is determined individually for each patient and depends on their specific needs and the goal of the treatment.

Mesolift describes the skin-tightening property of mesotherapy, which has a particular effect on smoother and firmer skin on the face, neck and body.

Mesohair refers to the treatment of the scalp to specifically slow down existing hair loss, stop it or slow down age-related (as well as circular) hair loss. The therapy can be used for hormone-dependent or non-hormone-dependent hair loss, but not for scarring hair loss. After a few treatments, the treated thinning areas become denser and the patient regains a more youthful appearance.

Mesocellulite describes the treatment of orange peel skin mostly on the buttocks, legs or abdomen. The targeted introduction of nutrients stimulates the metabolism and fat burning, resulting in tightening of the connective tissue. Stubborn fat deposits can also be treated with mesocellulite and is supported by an existing sports and nutrition program.

The cocktail of active ingredients in mesotherapy is composed of various ingredients including hyaluronic acid, natural vitamins (A, B, C, E), coenzymes, antioxidants, amino acids, trace elements (e.g., zinc, copper) and organic substances. It is injected into the skin at the respective treatment site with fine needles or during microneedling through fine cannulas.

We also use the preparation NCTF 135 HA, which contains hyaluronic acid and a polyrevitalising complex with 59 ingredients. In vitro studies and in vivo studies prove its effectiveness in the underlying skin layer: fibroblast stimulation increases by 148% on average, collagen stimulation +256% and free radical reduction decreases by more than 90%. In addition, skin thickness improves by about 20% and skin density by 24%.

Advantages of mesotherapy

What are the advantages of mesotherapy?

Mesotherapy can be applied to the scalp, face and body. The following benefits are associated with this treatment:

  1. Tightening and smoothing of the skin: the skin already looks firmer after the treatment and beyond, has a significantly stronger tone and density. Especially strained or weak connective tissue due to pregnancy, weight gain, or progressive aging all of which can benefit greatly from this effect.
  2. Improved skin texture: The entire skin texture appears more even, the skin is radiant and glowing again. Sagging, tired and dehydrated skin looks fresh, supple and moisturised again.
  3. Many areas of application: mesotherapy can be applied to the face, neck, body and scalp. It can also be used to treat specific areas such as the inner thighs and arms, eye contours and the abdomen.
  4. Preventive method: the treatment has a significant anti-aging effect and prevents the causes of skin aging. Superficial wrinkles are smoothed, the density of the underlying skin layer – specifically the dermis - is increased, the skin is protected from free radicals and cell formation is stimulated. The treatment has healing and preventive effects at the same time.
  5. Minimally invasive method: In aesthetic medicine, a maximum injection depth of 0.5 millimetres is achieved. The method is not only gentle, but also effective due to the targeted injection of ingredients into the middle layer of the skin. The treatment is largely painless. Anaesthesia can be applied as an ointment if desired by the patient.

Further advantages include:

  • No general anaesthesia
  • No surgery, no incision and no scars
  • Good tolerance according to experience
  • Has a firming effect
  • No downtime, very short healing phase

What areas can be treated with a mesotherapy?

Mesotherapy is usually applied to the scalp, face, neck, décolleté and body.

When you come to our practice for your treatment, we can discuss the possible areas that could benefit from this procedure. We offer free consultations so you can learn more about your options before deciding if and what kind of mesotherapy is right for you.

Procedure: How does a mesotherapy treatment proceed?

1. Before the treatment:

At the beginning of the first session, our expert will have a consultation with you. This will determine your desired result and treatment area. We will inform you about mesotherapy and about the appropriate mix of selected active substances, including amino acids and coenzymes. This mixture is determined exactly for each patient individually. We also inform you about possible risks and the realistic results to be expected. Then, before starting, we agree on the type and duration of the therapy in order to achieve optimal results.

After the consultation, the session is started.

Treatment on the face, neck or body: The area to be treated is cleaned.

2. During the treatment:

On the face and body, the cocktail of active ingredients is injected into the corresponding area. The skin is soothed with a cooling mask and finally a nourishing cream is applied.

In a treatment of the scalp – through the mesohair treatment - the mixture of ingredients is injected directly into the scalp. The microinjections are made especially in the areas affected by hair loss.

3. After the treatment:

Due to the gentle injection technique, most patients find mesotherapy pleasant. On the day of treatment, patients should refrain from sports or sauna sessions. In the following days it is advisable to avoid direct sunlight and solarium visits. Depending on the treatment site, it is also recommended to avoid irritating cosmetic products.

If you experience skin irritation, itching or other problems after the treatment, you can contact us at any time. We are here for you.

What to expect after a mesotherapy?

Mesotherapy causes the penetration of certain active ingredients into the tissue - deeper than creams are able to do - and cause cell stimulation and skin regeneration, including the formation of new collagen. The connective tissue is strengthened and the skin regains thickness, density and tone. The results are even more effective in combination with microneedling or Genius Mini-Lifting. The lasting success of the therapy depends on the skin condition /initial condition of the scalp and the aftercare or lifestyle of the patient.

After a mesolift, the skin is radiant, gains volume, shine and moisture. The skin texture is more even and smooth. Fine lines, wrinkles and crow's feet are visibly reduced. The overall appearance of the skin is more youthful and vital.

The Mesohair treatment stimulates the hair roots and supplies the scalp with valuable ingredients. The hair gains elasticity, strength and volume. Light areas of hair become denser. The treatment also helps against excessive sebum production and dandruff.

Mesocellulite treatment strengthens connective tissue and stimulates metabolism. The area affected by orange peel skin is significantly firmer and smoother. The results can be sustainably optimized with nutrition and fitness.

We offer free consultations so you can learn more about your options before deciding if and which mesotherapy is right for your needs.

Does a mesotherapy help against stretch marks?

Stretch marks occur when connective tissue is stretched excessively and can be caused by pregnancy, weight gain, growth spurts or muscle building. To reduce stretch marks, we recommend mesotherapy in combination with other methods to achieve an optimal result.

How does a mesotherapy work?

In mesotherapy, a valuable mix of ingredients is injected into the middle layer of the skin. Fine needles or, in microneedling, fine cannulas that penetrate a few millimetres into the skin are used for the injection. The target area to be treated is the middle layer of the skin, where the ingredients should act. This mixture includes components of hyaluronic acid, vitamins, amino acids and antioxidants, as well as organic substances.

These active ingredients promote cell stimulation and the formation of collagen - the most important fibrous component of the skin - which degrades over the years due to the natural aging process. The build-up of collagen is therefore associated with an anti-aging effect, as it increases skin elasticity, making the skin firmer and smoother. Certain active ingredients, such as hyaluronan, bind water and ensure that the skin is hydrated and plump. Weak connective tissue can thus be supported and strengthened again.

How does a mesotherapy feel and is it painful?

As a rule, mesotherapy is perceived as pleasant by the majority of patients. Anaesthesia is applied in the form of an ointment if desired.

What are the possible risks and side effects of mesotherapy?

A slight burning sensation may be felt during the treatment. After treatment, the skin may be slightly red and swollen. In rare cases, hematomas may occur.

How long does the recovery take?

Mesotherapy does not require any downtime. In rare cases, redness and swelling may occur after treatment, however, usually social activities can be resumed after the session without any restrictions.

Can I do sports after the mesotherapy?

We recommend that you do not engage in sports activities immediately after the treatment. You can resume sports activities from the following day.

How long is the skin sensitive after mesotherapy treatment?

This is a gentle procedure. As mentioned, in rare cases the skin may be slightly red or swollen. However, these symptoms should subside after 1-2 days at the latest.

How long does it take to see results with the mesotherapy?

Immediately after treatment on the face, neck or décolleté, the skin is firmer, glowing, moisturised and feels smoother.

The success of the treatment for fine lines, wrinkles, crow's feet as well as cellulite depends strongly on the skin condition at the beginning of the treatment, the aftercare and the patient's lifestyle. After the first three sessions, the skin is already firmer, pores are refined and connective tissue is strengthened. For a long-lasting effect, we recommend repeating the mesotherapy in the intervals of 4 weeks thereafter.

Mesohair already shows a reduction in hair loss after the first treatments for more than 80% of patients. After eight to 12 weeks, the hair is significantly fuller and stronger.

On average, we recommend 3 to 6 treatments at intervals of 2 to 4 weeks to achieve the desired results. However, the type and duration of therapy is determined on an individual basis.

Feel free to book a free consultation appointment so that we can discuss how many treatments you need to achieve your desired results. This will also allow us to estimate when you are likely to achieve your desired result.

Can I enhance the mesotherapy results with additional treatments?

Yes. Through certain treatments for skin regeneration or rejuvenation, such as microneedling /Genius mini lifting, complement mesotherapy. In addition, more mature skin in particular benefits from the combination, as mesotherapy supports the effectiveness of microneedling.

How long do the results of mesotherapy last?

The treatments on the scalp strengthen the natural hair growth and thinning areas become denser. This slows down the age-related hair loss in the long term.

The results for improving skin texture and strengthening connective tissue on the face, neck and body is highly dependent on the patient's lifestyle and how the skin was at the beginning of the treatment. In case of cellulite, the results can be optimised in combination with nutrition and fitness. This slows down the age-related sagging of the skin and the breakdown of collagen in the long term. For long-lasting results, we recommend using mesotherapy regularly.

How many sessions are needed?

The type and duration of therapy is discussed at the beginning of the treatment and depends on the initial situation of the skin/texture or the severity of the hair loss, the goal of the treatment, the aftercare and the lifestyle of the patient.

On average, we recommend 3 to 6 treatments at intervals of 2 to 4 weeks to achieve the first lasting results.

We offer free consultations and are happy to talk to you about whether a mesotherapy is right for you and roughly how many treatments are necessary for your goal.

What makes mesotherapy different from other methods? What makes the procedure unique?

Mesotherapy is a particularly gentle, minimally invasive method to supply the underlying, middle layer of the skin with active ingredients. This enables cell stimulation, the formation of collagen and elastin which serves to tighten and rejuvenate the skin. Fine needles are injected into the skin to a maximum of 0.5 millimetres, without causing significant stress to the skin surface. Social activities can be resumed after the session without any restrictions.

The therapy is a micro-injection technique that does not remove the top or deeper layers of the skin compared to most chemical or mechanical peels. Compared to laser therapies and radiofrequency methods, no heat is used to treat the skin. As a result, the skin is less sensitive overall, requires minimal or no healing period, and is not as sensitive to sun exposure.

In addition, no therapy offers a better, more effective method of injecting an individually determined mixture of ingredients, treating neither too superficially nor too deeply into the bloodstream.

Other advantages over alternative methods:

  • No downtime
  • No surgery, no incision and no scars
  • Can be used during the summer months

When and how was mesotherapy discovered?

Mesotherapy was developed by French physician Michel Pistor in 1952 and incorporates elements from acupuncture and neural therapy. The term "meso" comes from the Greek word "middle" and refers to the mesoderm - the middle cotyledon develops during embryogenesis and forms in the third week of development. In mesotherapy, this skin layer is targeted.

Since the discovery of mesotherapy, there are a number of treatment areas. In medicine, it is used to treat injuries and diseases such as rheumatism, migraine, wound healing and circulatory disorders, or osteoarthritis. In aesthetic medicine, the diversity of the therapy is also apparent, such as the treatment of wrinkles, dehydrated skin, thinning hair and cellulite, among others.
